Bendigo doctor among Honour Roll of Women honorees
November 17, 2021
Dr Skye Kinder, who started her career with Bendigo Health, has been named among this year’s 23 inductees to the Victorian Honour Roll of Women which celebrates the outstanding contributions made by women from all walks of life and acknowledges the many ways in which they have made a lasting impact to our state.
Two new categories were introduced this year, to recognise young women in the early stages of their career and acknowledge women’s leadership in bushfire and COVID-19 response and recovery.
Dr Kinder has been inducted for her clinical and advocacy work for rural and other marginalised patients and their communities to address health inequality. She was previously named 2019’s Victorian Young Australian of the Year, AFR’s 100 Women of Influence in 2020, and Victoria’s Junior Doctor of the Year in 2017, for her work advocating for the health of people in rural and regional communities.
Brought up in the local area, Dr Kinder joined Bendigo Health as an intern in 2017 and became a member of its Fundraising Advisory Board in August 2021. She is currently a Psychiatry Registrar at St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne, a partner hospital to the North Western Melbourne PHN where she is also the MD Mental Health Site Coordinator for the University of Melbourne.
