About the role
The role of Lead, Health Sector Advocacy is responsible for driving the Victorian Healthcare Association’s advocacy agenda and supporting the positioning of the VHA as the voice on emerging health system issues. This role is an on-going, permanent position that will report to the Director of Policy and will work closely with all parts of the VHA’s membership spanning metropolitan, regional, small rural and multi-purpose health services to community health.
This role will be responsible for identification of emerging issues and trends that impact Victorian public hospitals and community health services at a State and Commonwealth level. The role will strategise, problem-solve and develop campaigns designed to ensure effective advocacy on key emerging health system issues on behalf of VHA members. The role will be responsible for the development of considered alliances with external stakeholders in relation to campaigns and issues management.
While it would be a bonus for you to have experience within or knowledge of the healthcare sector, the current COVID-19 situation may see you re-evaluating and considering a shift in sector. What is most important to us are the skills and expertise you bring.
You are tertiary qualified with extensive experience in advocacy, issues and stakeholder management. You have exceptional relationship management skills, including experience in engaging with senior executives and government. You have experience in problem-solving, campaign-development and advocacy with a strong understanding of government processes and protocol at a State and Commonwealth level. A team player with a collaborative mindset you are aligned to the vision, purpose and values of VHA and driven by a member-centric focus.
