Voluntary assisted dying

The Department of Health and Human Services engaged the Victorian Healthcare Association to develop the model of care to support the implementation of voluntary assisted dying in Victoria from 19 June 2019.

In addition to the model of care, the VHA has developed processes for safety and quality and a suite of resources that outline the requirements of the Voluntary Assisted Dying Act 2017 and will assist organisations in planning its approach to participation in VAD.

Throughout February and March 2019, the VHA is conducted information sessions in various formats for those working in the Victorian health sector to learn about the voluntary assisted dying legislation, including the model of care and the various pathways, to support implementation within health services. For those who couldn't participate in a session a video is available here.
