Celebrating our public sector aged care workers

Posted 22 October 2019

Staff within Victoria’s public sector aged care sector play a critical role in supporting some of the state’s most vulnerable people.

In recognition of this important role and in recognition of the added pressure a Royal Commission has placed on the sector, Minister for Ageing, Luke Donnellan, has launched the Celebrating Aged Care, Love your job campaign.

Staff working in public sector aged care are encouraged to write or film themselves sharing, in 100 words of less, why they love their job working in aged care. A morning tea for one lucky aged care team is up for grabs. Email entries to by Friday 29 November.

Do you have a story celebrating aged care?

Does your organisation have an innovative model of aged care? The VHA is looking for positive aged care stories to share with the media such as creative arts, craft or culture programs, animal therapy, gardening initiatives, dining experiences, residential in-reach, Indigenous care or outstanding volunteerism.

If you have any programs you think demonstrate innovation, with names and contact details, let the VHA know by contacting Jack Walden on 0428 300 090 or by email here.

More information about the VHA Celebrating Aged Care Campaign is available here.
