NDIS Transition: Playbook For Change

May 2019

The VHA Playbook for Change provides a range of activities to help employees determine and prioritise the actions they need to take in order to move the organisation from its current state to a desired future state. It is supported by a series of webinars as well as a set of case studies on organisations sharing lessons from their transition to NDIS.

‘Catalyst for Change’ webinar series

The ‘Catalyst for Change’ webinar series is designed to support Victorian healthcare organisations involved in the transition to NDIS. The webinars explore the change framework and ‘Playbook for Change for the NDIS transition’ co-created by the VHA and the Business of Health. The webinars, delivered by the author of the Playbook, Claire Edwards, provide a ‘how to’ explanation of the key ‘plays’ required to implement successful change. The webinars are available as a recording below and provide valuable support when working through the ‘Playbook for Change’.

NDIS implementation lessons

As part of a broad program of activities to support Victorian healthcare organisations during the transition to the NDIS, the VHA, supported by the Department of Health and Human Services, conducted a series of interviews with its members to uncover key lessons for sharing with other organisations.

The result of these interviews is ten case studies which outline the key challenges faced by each organisation, how they overcame these challenges, and the key opportunities discovered during the transition.

NDIS Lessons

In addition to the lessons shared by these providers, the VHA has compiled, with the support of DHHS, a range of templates, tools and further reading to support organisations navigate their transition to the NDIS.

Commonwealth Home Support Programme fact sheet

November 2019

The VHA conducted a series of interviews with members delivering the Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP) to uncover key lessons for sharing with other organisations. The results of these interviews are included in this document which outlines the positive outcomes for public sector CHSP providers operating under My Aged Care, information on ongoing challenges faced by these organisations and simple tips on how to navigate these challenges.

Home Care Package environmental scan

November 2019

The VHA has developed an environmental scan, with accompanying technical paper, of the Home Care Package sector. This document provides an overview of information relevant to public sector organisations which are evaluating their positioning in relation to the HCP sector.

Disability Action Plan

June 2019

By 30 June 2019, all Victorian public health services and hospitals were required have a draft disability action plan (DAP) in place. To support the sector, the VHA created range of resources including a Disability action plan template and checklist and a series of videos.

The checklist outlines a process that can be followed to develop a DAP, while the template provides information on suggested inclusions in the DAP. The template and checklist should be used in conjunction with the knowledge gained from organisation-led consultation and research, and understanding of legislation.

The videos are designed to assist Victorian public hospitals, multi-purpose services and community health services to build their capacity to support the needs of people with disability and to ensure opportunities for greater representation on governing bodies, boards and committees, and support the workforce more broadly.

Each video highlights a different aspect related to disability action plans (DAP) designed to support health services build their capacity as mainstream service providers and improve the quality of care and employment opportunities for people with disability.
