COVID-19 restrictions on visitors to health services

April 1, 2020

In an effort to reduce the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19) into hospitals and aged care facilities, state and federal governments have introduced a range of visitor restrictions.

Restrictions include the amount of time visitors can spend at the facility and the number of visitors per person. These are in addition to general rules relating to people who have been in contact with confirmed cases of COVID-19, travelled overseas or are exhibiting flu-like symptoms.

Information about the restrictions for hospitals can be found here under ‘Restrictions on hospital visitors and workers’, while information about restrictions for aged care facilities can be found here under ‘Direction – Aged care (PDF)’.

The VHA is calling on Australians to stay home unless they need to go out for an essential activity.
