VHA welcomes pre-budget funding for key health services
October 6, 2020
Four of the key items identified in the VHA’s Pre-Budget submission to the Commonwealth Government have been funded in the lead up to the announcement of the 2020-21 Commonwealth Budget.
Back-to-back crises in 2020, from devastating bushfires to the COVID-19 pandemic, have exposed the weaknesses of Victoria’s current health system and shone a light on its strengths. The VHA has called on the Commonwealth Government to use the budget to build on initiatives across the sector supporting the COVID-19 response and safeguard service delivery across the healthcare continuum.
Key initiatives funded to date and identified in the VHA’s submission include:
- MBS telehealth items extension to March 2021
- HeadtoHelp centres being delivered by community health services
- Extension of the Commonwealth Government’s increased viability and homeless supplements to 28 February 2021
- Maintaining flexibility arrangements for Assistive Technology beyond September 2020
