VHA calls for ideas, innovations and insights

June 24, 2020

The VHA is asking members to share ideas, innovations and insights in healthcare developed in response to COVID-19 and other challenges from the first half of 2020.

The VHA’s new ‘Sector ideas, innovations and insights’ campaign follows the call last month by the Minister for Health Jenny Mikakos to see the innovation process deliver ‘lasting reform’ for Victoria.

It also provides an opportunity to capture the range of innovations and changes rapidly implemented during the current pandemic, and ensure these improvements continue long after the sector returns to business as usual.

The VHA’s Chief Executive Tom Symondson says this is an important time for the sector to come together, learn from each other and ensure none of the lessons from these challenging times are lost.

‘The VHA has witnessed an incredible amount of innovation resulting from COVID-19 and other challenges facing Victorians over the past six months, and we have an opportunity to determine what should stay and what should go as we prepare for the future of the sector,’ Mr Symondson said.

With the Minister saying the Department of Health and Human Services is ‘alive to opportunities’ for innovation, the VHA is building on its work with members to uncover more innovations occurring across the sector.

Over the next six weeks, the VHA is inviting members to share details of what they have seen occur, or what they are planning, across key areas including:

  • Workforce
  • Digital infrastructure
  • Innovation
  • Integration
  • Funding models
