Reflecting on our impact in 2022

December 14, 2022

As the year draws to a close, we wanted to take the opportunity to reflect on our work to support the public health system over the past 12 months.

It has been a year of significant change for the VHA, and another year of immense pressure on our public health, community health, aged care and ambulance services. But it has also been a year of great opportunities to engage with members and stakeholders, influence policy, and highlight issues important to the health sector.

Our 2022 performance highlights document captures some of our key activities and outputs over the course of the year, providing practical examples of how the VHA has supported members in line with our strategic priorities.

We have also developed a resource to reflect on some of our advocacy efforts during the year, the impact and outcomes of that work, and how we’ll continue to support members in those key policy areas.

Much of the focus this year was on delivering positive outcomes for members during the state and federal budgets and elections.

With the state election now behind us, we will continue to advocate for our members’ interests by taking up our reform agenda with the newly re-elected Labor Government. We have already reached out to state MPs – particularly the newly appointed and re-appointed Ministers for Health, Ambulance, Mental Health and Disability, Ageing and Carers – to continue our strong working relationships and ensure that health remains a top priority for sitting members of the 60th Victorian Parliament.

Victoria’s public health and community health services need investment and support to ensure they are in the best condition to deliver the care that the community deserves – and there is still a significant amount of work for the VHA and the sector to do to help us achieve that. We will continue to use our position to connect, strengthen and support public health and community health services in the year ahead.

The VHA would like to acknowledge and thank our members – and all the members of the healthcare sector in Victoria – for their continued service to the community during 2022.

We will continue to build on the successes of the past 12 months, so we can support our members to continue to deliver world-class healthcare to the Victorian community in 2023 and beyond.

The VHA will be taking a short break over the holiday period, with our offices closed from 5pm Thursday 22 December and reopening on Tuesday 3 January. We look forward to engaging with you in the new year.
