How will the Health and Human Services Climate Change Adaptation Action Plan affect your organisation?
July 16, 2021
The Department of Health recently published the draft Health and Human Services Climate Change Adaptation Action Plan 2022-2026 and is now seeking feedback and sector input on the draft Plan.
The Plan proposes 14 strategic actions that Victoria’s health and human services system can take over the next five years to address current climate change impacts, reduce barriers to adaptation planning and action, and lay the foundations for transformational adaptation.
Our health and human services system touches the lives of every Victorian, particularly vulnerable and disadvantaged communities, who are also disproportionately affected by climate change.
That’s why the VHA is keen to work with members to collect sector-wide feedback on the draft Plan and develop a submission to the department.
We need health services to be heard as the department develops its Adaptation Action Plan, to ensure they are prepared to address the challenges posed by climate change and can continue providing important services to their communities.
VHA members are invited to participate in a consultation forum from 9.30-11.30am on Wednesday 28 July. Up to two representatives per organisation can register to attend.
The forum will be jointly hosted by the VHA, the Victorian Health Building Authority and the Department of Health.
Event details and registration are available here.
Participants can prepare for the forum by reading our member briefing on the draft Plan.
