VHA & ACHG Governance Conference: At the coalface of clinical governance

The Victorian Healthcare Association and the Australian Centre for Healthcare Governance will present Leading the Change, this month, a forum that will assist VHA members and the health sector with governance responsibilities.

ACHG Executive Director Jo-Anne Moorfoot will facilitate a panel session, Chairing in the new governance landscape, with three current board members: Jennifer Williams, Board Chair of Northern Health, Don Paproth, Board Chair of Bass Coast Health and Kerry Thompson, Deputy Chair of cohealth.

“Coming from metro, rural and community health backgrounds, each member of the panel has a unique perspective on  health governance and hearing their real-life experiences will be invaluable to our attendees", Ms Moorfoot said.

Members of the panel will share their experience in health service governance, drawing on personal successes and challenges they've encountered and discuss what makes an effective board.

In addition to the panel, the conference will also launch the Department of Health and Human Services 'Director's toolkit', a practical manual that will assist board directors and other board members to better understand the role of directors of health services boards.  “The VHA and ACHG Governance Conference is a rare opportunity for attendees to hear from board members who are at the coalface of clinical governance. Research is a great resource but it’s the board members who make it happen”, Ms Moorfoot said.
