Posted 04 October 2018

ABC journalist and presenter of ABC Breakfast, Michael Rowland will be guest speaker at the VHA 80 years celebration on 18 October at the Myer Mural Hall, Melbourne.

‘We’re thrilled to have Michael, one of Australia’s most seasoned journalists, speaking at our 80th celebration event,’ said VHA CEO Tom Symondson.

‘Drawing on over 25 years of experience in the media covering some of the biggest political stories in Australia and around the world, Michael will have some fantastic insights to share in the lead up to the Victorian Election.’

As Washington correspondent, Michael reported on the 2008 presidential election in which Barack Obama made history. He also covered Hurricane Katrina, the trial of David Hicks at Guantanamo Bay, the Virginia Tech massacre and the Global Financial Crisis.

Michael is an experienced political reporter, having worked in the federal, Victorian and NSW press galleries, and has had the character forming experience of jousting with leaders like Paul Keating and Jeff Kennett.

The winners of the 2018 VHA Annual Awards will also be announced at the event.

VHA member Board Directors, executive and management teams are invited to attend the celebration event to mark 80 years of the VHA and the Victorian healthcare sector, reflecting on the past eight decades and also turning focus to the opportunities ahead.
