REGISTER NOW: Voluntary assisted dying model of care information sessions

Posted 20 December 2018

In mid-2018, the Department of Health and Human Services engaged the Victorian Healthcare Association (VHA) to develop the model of care to support the implementation, from 19 June 2019, of voluntary assisted dying (VAD) in Victoria.

In addition to the model of care, the VHA has developed guidance material for safety and quality and a suite of resources that outline the requirements of the Voluntary Assisted Dying Act 2017 and will assist the Victorian health sector in planning its approach to participation in VAD.

The model of care and the associated policies and protocols have been developed with the support and of a consultative group, which includes representation from across public and private hospitals, community-based palliative care, community health, general practice, and residential aged care.

Those working in the health sector, including hospitals, aged care, community-based palliative care and general practice are invited to participate in information sessions to learn about the model of care and quality framework.
