Nurse/midwife ratio taskforce consultation with VHA

Posted 20 April 2017

VHA met with the Nurse/Midwife to Patient Ratio Improvements Taskforce this week.

Representing the public health sector, the VHA presented a range of workforce and quality measures in improving patient and resident outcomes.

VHA CEO Tom Symondson spoke of the importance of nurses and other health professionals to ensure quality care outcomes.

"The challenges with workforce availability, particularly in rural areas, are likely to increase over time with an ageing population. Increased workforce competition between health, aged care and disability, as the NDIS continues to roll out, will also have an impact", he said.

The VHA submission to the taskforce can be accessed here
